is our faith and love conditional? is it based on the good we expect? is it conditional on our health and that of our loved ones? or even our job and its security? the food at our disposal?
if it is, than what we practice in the worst of times does not match our lofty rhetoric in the good ones. no longer are we practicing faith, but in essence demanding loyalty from God.
though our emotions and feelings be true in the difficult times, lost and pain are real, the act of faith demands a trust beyond the matters of this world that we can touch and see. faith demands we trust in love beyond our full comprehension.
it is a leap, and it may seem like one taken over a chasm through a dense fog. but faith is not about the leap, where our eyes are useless, it is about the trust we must have in the arms of an ever loving God waiting on the other side.
