there exists in every person a beautiful world consisting of one's thoughts and feelings immersed in their spirit. its so wonderfully complicated, we rarely try to comprehend the relationships with these currents. if anything we tend to ignore nurturing these aspects of ourselves. our actions and thoughts are so focused on the currents of the outside world, constantly trying to "control" them. the irony is the only part we are in control of. . . is ourselves.
if a person is not at peace with themselves then it is harder for that person to be at peace with the rest of the world. and the same is true of the inverse relationship. we cannot disconnect the two worlds. we cannot vacuum seal a seed and still expect it to grow.
for the past few years or even more, there have been several issues gnawing at me. and unwilling to deal with them i chose to instead bury them. but there is a quirk in this logic. whatever we believe we can avoid or ignore typically will still manifest itself. the things in our lives we cast a negative pall upon cannot be obliterated with a simple turn of the head, without properly processing them these negative matters will turn into negative energy. and so gradually i became more easily irritable. without realizing it, those issues i chose to ignore manifested and feed my negativity.
for most of us though we passively allow the extraneous workings of the world to control our inner workings. our happiness is so reactionary. our inner peace is so fragile. a single event can imbalance our outlook for an inordinate amount of time. the rain, some traffic, a passing comment from someone. all of these are examples of things beyond our control yet they have such sway over our moods & thoughts. because we let them.
and this is our great challenge, often ignored. it is not as glamorous as running the marathon, conquering the black diamond slope, or learning to do the back roll off the wake. but it is our most fundamental challenge and the greatest discovery to be made, ourselves.
when we are more mindful of our thoughts, actions, and feelings those currents will be less turbulent & muddled. when we focus more inwards and nurture a better sense of balance, we can walk through the universe more peacefully.
when there is more peace in our heart, more clarity in our thoughts, our spirit will soar. and in that moment there will be silence . . . for us to hear God's whisper.
